As they approach the island, the procurator appears (somehow) and guides them to the place they landed the year before. They disembark, praise God, and prepare to celebrate Maundy Thursday / Holy Thursday.
[7] occurrit illīs ... idem prōcūrātor: = idem prōcūrātor, in nāviculā, occurit illīs obviam.
[8] ōsculāns pedēs singulōrum: a mark of exceptional humility, as when the fallen woman kissed the feet of Jesus (Luke 7.38, 45). It was not a normal part of medieval ritual.
usque ad novissimum: “all the way to the youngest.”
in sānctīs suīs: “among his saints.” Note that sanctus can be used for “ordinary” Christians who have been saved.
Isrāēl: genitive. Most Hebrew names are not declined in Latin.
Mīrābilis Deus ... Benedictus Deus: Psalm 67.36 (68.35): “God is wonderful in his saints; the God of Israel is he who will give power and strength to his people” (Mirabilis Deus de sanctis suis; Deus Israhel, ipse dabit virtutem et fortitudinem plebi suae).
