Αὕτη μὲν ἡ τοῦ Ἐνδυμίωνος δύναμις ἦν. σκευὴ δὲ πάντων ἡ αὐτή· κράνη μὲν ἀπὸ τῶν κυάμων, μεγάλοι γὰρ παρ᾽ αὐτοῖς οἱ κύαμοι καὶ καρτεροί· θώρακες δὲ φολιδωτοὶ πάντες θέρμινοι· τὰ γὰρ λέπη τῶν θέρμων συρράπτοντες ποιοῦνται θώρακας, ἄρρηκτον δὲ ἐκεῖ γίνεται τοῦ θέρμου τὸ λέπος ὥσπερ κέρας· ἀσπίδες δὲ καὶ ξίφη οἷα τὰ Ἑλληνικά.

    αὕτη...ἡ...δύναμις ἦν: "this was the military force." For the demonstrative αὕτη being used as a predicate adjective and agreeing in gender with the subject (where the verb is "to be" or another linking verb), see S. 1238 and 1239.

    ἀπὸ τῶν κυάμων: “(made) from beans” (gen. of material: S. 1323).

    θώρακες δὲ φολιδωτοὶ πάντες θέρμινοι: “their scale-armor was all made of lupines.” 

    τὰ λέπη: “the husks.”

    γίνεται: = γίγνεται (S. 89).

    οἷα: "just as, like" (see οἷος LSJ V.2).
