Vēnērunt autem Ārabēs ferē trecentī, irruēruntque nostrī super illōs, et apprehendērunt duōs ex eīs, persequentēs aliōs usque ad eōrum exercitum. Sērō autem factō, patriarcha fēcit praecōnārī per omnem hostem, ut in summō māne crās essent omnēs parātī ad bellum, excommūnicāns nē ūllus homō intenderet ad ūlla spolia dōnec bellum esset factum; sed, eō factō, reverterentur cum fēlīcī gaudiō ad capiendum quicquid eīs praedēstinātum esset ā Dominō.

(August 1099) The crusaders march out from Jerusalem, but the Bishop of Martirano is captured. In Jerusalem, Peter the Hermit organizes religious devotions so that God will help them in their battle. The Patriarch Arnulf comes out with the army, and after a skirmish, says that he will excommunicate anyone distracted in battle by plunder: plunder can come later.

Epīscopus ... Marturanēnsis: "The bishop of Martirano"; his name is unknown; Martirano is in Calabrai.
obviam eī: = obviam (epīscopo Marturanensi)
et apprehēnsum sēcum dūxērunt: = et Saraceni duxerunt (episcopum Marturanensem) sēcum. They took him prisoner, and his fate is unknown.
ad Templum Dominī: probably the Mosque of Omar (the Dome of the Rock), turned into a church by Godfrey of Boulogne.
ut suum dēfenderet populum: the subject is Deus.

ad flūmen, quod est ex hāc parte Scalōnae: said by Dass to be the Nahr-as-Safiya, between Ascalon and Jerusalem, but I can't find this on the map.
multa animālia—boum ... omnium bonōrum—dēpraedātī sunt: this appears to be an accusative followed by a string of partitive genitives: “many animals—(many) of cattle, etc.”
in summō māne: at dawn.
excommūnicāns nē ūllus homō: the patriarch excommunicated anyone who breaks this rule (literally, he excommunicated so that no man would do it).
