Mykonos Pithos

Profile of a larger-than-life-size horse with 7 cut-outs in its side and neck. The horse faces left. In each cut out can be seen the face of a man. In one cutout, high on the neck, a man holds out a helmet, just under the horse's chin. In a cutout in the horse's chest a man holds a sword in its scabbard. In the next cutout, on the horse's flank, a man holds out a shield. In the last cutout, just before the horse's tail another man holds a sword. Surrounding the horse are men armed with shields and spears.
