The Black Fury Painter

Callisto, red-figure fragment

Callisto (right) looks at her hand as it transforms into a paw. The fingernails have already become claws. Only her head and four fingers of one hand remain. Her ears have fully transformed into a bear's. Her hair falls in loose waves around her head. Three branches of a tree are visible at center. At left, a portion of a spotted cloak is visible (perhaps Artemis').
