Death of Actaeon red-figure nestoris


Actaeon, in mid-transformation, is surrounded by his 6 dogs, three of which are already attacking. He has sprouted the ears and antlers of a stag; his word is raised behind his head in his right hand. He is nude except for a cloak secured by a round broach at the neck. He has wrapped his it around his left arm, perhaps in defense. He is bleeding from bites to each leg and one on his torso. Artemis stands at the far left, almost out of frame
