εἰπέ μοι, τί μάλιστα εἰδὼς τυγχάνεις;

Σωκράτης

παιδεραστής εἰμι καὶ σοφὸς τὰ ἐρωτικά.

Ἀγοράστης

πῶς οὖν ἐγὼ πρίωμαί σε; παιδαγωγοῦ γὰρ ἐδεόμην τῷ παιδὶ καλῷ ὄντι μοι.

Σωκράτης

τίς δ᾽ ἂν ἐπιτηδειότερος ἐμοῦ γένοιτο συνεῖναι καλῷ; καὶ γὰρ οὐ τῶν σωμάτων ἐραστής εἰμι, τὴν ψυχὴν δὲ ἡγοῦμαι καλήν· ἀμέλει κἂν ὑπὸ ταὐτὸν ἱμάτιόν μοι κατακέωνται, ἀκούσει αὐτῶν λεγόντων μηδὲν ὑπ᾽ ἐμοῦ δεινὸν παθεῖν.

Ἀγοράστης

ἄπιστα λέγεις, τὸ παιδεραστὴν ὄντα μὴ πέρα τῆς ψυχῆς πολυπραγμονεῖν, καὶ ταῦτα ἐπ᾽ ἐξουσίας, ὑπὸ τῷ αὐτῷ ἱματίῳ κατακείμενον.

    πάνυ μὲν οὖν: "yes, by all means" (S. 2901a).

    ὠνεῖται: > ὠνέομαι buy, purchase. Here the present should be rendered as a future because this is a statement of something immediate, or likely (S. 1879: Present of Anticipation).

    τὰ ἐρωτικά: "in erotic matters" (S. 1601b). The Platonic Socrates frequently claims he knows only that he does not know ("Socratic ignorance"). Lucian seems here to refer to the conspicuous exception in Symposium 177d8 where Socrates uncharacteristically makes a claim to expertise: "I who say that I understand nothing other than erotic matters" (ὃς οὐδέν φημι ἄλλο ἐπίστασθαι ἢ τὰ ἐρώτικα) (cf. 212b and see Beaupère ad loc.).     

    πῶς...πρίωμαί σε:  "how am I to buy you?" deliberative subjunctive (S. 1805). While πρίαμαι is listed in LSJ as a dubious present (note the asterisk), ἐπριάμην is often used in Attic as the aor. of ὠνέομαι.

    γένοιτο: potential opt. (S. 1824).      

    καλήν: predicate adj. (S. 910b).      

    ἀμέλει: (properly an imperative but commonly used as an adv.) "doubtless, by all means, of course."      

    κἂν = καὶ ἐάν  even if (+ subj.).

    ὑπὸ ταὐτὸν ἱμάτιον μοι  under the same cloak as me “ ( “same...as “ + dat. S. 1500). For the attributive use of αὐτός, see S. 1173, 1204, and 1210.

    ἐραστής, -οῦ, ὁ lover, admirer (+ objective gen.; S. 1331).     

    τὸ παιδεραστὴν ὄντα μὴ πέρα τῆς ψυχῆς πολυπραγμονεῖν "the fact that you while a lover do not involve yourself in things beyond the soul,”  this complex articular infinitive is functioning as a phrase to specify or explain the unbelievable things (ἄπιστα).      

    καὶ ταῦτα: "and that too" (takes up or continues a preceding expression) (S. 947).

    ἐπ' ἐξουσίας: "during an opportune moment" (see LSJ ἐπί II).   

    κατακείμενον: "while lying (under)..,” this participle further describes the subject of the articular infinitive.
