A door knocker with an ouroboros (serpent eating its own tail) surrounding a lion's head. From the door of a baroque house, the Casa Marina in the town of Calmocha, Aragon, Spain.

    Navigatio Brendani 21.4:

(bestiae marinae) tālēs vidēbantur sīcut iūnctās in gīrum, applicantēs capita ad posteriōra iacendō.

The creatures seemed to be curled up into a circle (in gīrum). CL would be (e.g.) vidēbantur tālēs ut (aliquās) iūnctās in gīrum, or would omit tālēs entirely.
