a. Elision is most common in prepositions, conjunctions, and
particles, as δέ, ἀλλά, γε, τε, ἐπί.b. Never elided are α and ο in monosyllables, ι in περί, ἄχρι,
μέχρι, τί, τι, and ὅτι; also υ. Ὅτʼ must therefore be for ὅτε.
