Quanto...gravior...tanto crebriores: “越严重...越经常”(Harkness);quanto 和 tanto是表示不同程度的离格(Gaisser). (A&G 414.a)

Servo: 与persuadet相应的与格。(A&G 367) 出身显赫的Nervius劝服了他的奴隶去递信给凯撒。

magnis praemiis: “通过承诺奖赏(给奴隶)” (Rice Holmes)

ille: 即送信的奴隶。(Gaisser).

in iaculo: 指的是矛的手柄可能是空心的,信件就被嵌入其中。(Allen & Greenough) In指的肯定是“在上面”,因为如果信件被嵌入在空心标枪的手柄中,绑缚(illigatas)这个词就显得没有必要和不符合实际了。信件能够很容易地被麻绳的绑缚隐藏,这样看起来就像标枪被用麻绳接合了一样。(Rice Holmes)
